A Break in the Regularly Scheduled Programming
I have decided to do a short pictorial update instead of a lengthy wordy one, because I had to actually get my hair cut last week, and also I was carrying a lot of stuff in my handbag.
Mostly I am procrastinating on writing the proper update. I’ve been busy writing up a 12 minute talk that I’m doing tomorrow at the Peter Mac about the sleep group I attended, and also my speech last week at work about the Cancer Council.
First up, is “what is inside a cancer patient’s handbag?”
- Wallet, containing Medicare card, private health insurance card, Peter Mac card, and credit/debit cards to pay for things.
- Foldable fan for those delightful menopausal hot flushes. This is the most useful gift someone bought me, before I even realised I needed one.
- Eye drops for dry eyes that happen randomly.
- Glasses case for sunglasses / eyeglasses.
- Lipbalm and lipstick for chapped lips / wanting to look half-decent.
- Phone battery charger.
- Panadol for random pain.
- Disposable vomit bag, because cancer makes you spew randomly.
Next up is the evolution of my hair. I don’t have a pre-cancer selfie from last year of me not pulling a stupid face, so I’ve started with a 2016 picture of me, and ended with one taken tonight while I was putting it together.
My hair has grown so much in the last 14 days since I got it cut – the first time since I got it shaved in November last year (I’m not counting the time I got it cleaned up a bit at the salon). And while I was putting this together, I was surprised at how quickly it had grown back after falling out almost completely at the start of January. Some of the white fuzzy hair had stayed so I wasn’t completely bald, but bald enough to still look like a cancer patient.
That’s all I can be bothered writing for now. Another update will come eventually.
