03 – The Letters From Cancer
(Original title – The Letters From No One)
So, it’s been an eventful few days after four days of non-eventfulness.
After four days of no appointments, I met with my oncologist on Monday, and while waiting for that appointment to begin, found out that I was suddenly homeless because of the ongoing mould argument between the owner upstairs and my landlord and us.
Shit.
We managed to scramble into a place and got moved in today which is all hunky dory.
And then there was that minor hiccup with my first chemo session.
Turns out I had an anaphylactic reaction to a drug they gave me. Don’t know which one, but I ended up in emergency at 5am on Wednesday morning, and got discharged after staying overnight with two shots of adrenalin and being pumped full of anti-nausea drugs. Delicious.
The $50,000 beds at the Peter Mac are worth every cent, but the pillows at the RMH are way better.
I’m at the new house, we don’t have internet until next week sometime, and there’s still a lot of unpacking to do, but we’ll manage. And I’m off to see the immunologist next week before my next chemo session, just in case it’s the chemo itself I am allergic to.
Fun times.
